1. This is Earth. This is where you are.

2. This is where you live in the solar system.

3. This is the distance from the Earth to the moon. Seems close.

4. Think again. Inside that distance you can fit every planet in the solar system.

5. Here is what North America looks like on one of those other planets. This is Jupiter.

6. You can fit six Earths on Saturn’s rings.

7. If Earth had Saturn’s rings it would look like this.

8. That comet we just landed on is pretty big too. Here is what it looks like compared to Los Angeles.

9. Want to feel even smaller? This is Earth compared to the Sun.

10. This is you from the moon.

11. This is you from Mars.

12. Here is you from just behind the rings of Saturn.

13. Here is you from Neptune. About 4 billion miles away.

14. This is why it’s important to not be to close to the Sun. Look at the size difference.

15. The Sun looks pretty cool from Mars.

16. Carl Sagan was said there are more stars in space than there are grains of sand on every beach on Earth.

17. Some strs make our Sun look tiny.

 18. Here is another look. The biggest star, VY Canis Jaoris is 1,000,000,000 times bigger than the Sun.

19. But all those stars are just specs in a galaxy. If you shrank the sun down to the size of a white blood cell and shrunk the Milky Way galaxy down using the same scale, the Milky Way would be the size of the United States.

20. The Milky Way is huge. This is where you live. Right at that marker.

21. This is all you see of the galaxy.

22. Our galaxy is still tiny compared to others. Here is the Milky Way compare to IC 1011. It’s 350 million light years away from Earth.

23. But think bigger. In JUST this picture taken by the Hubble telescope, there are thousands and thousands of GALAXIES, each containing millions of stars, each with their own planets.

24. This is UDF 423, 10 billion light years away. When you look at this, you are looking billions of years into the past, due to the speed at which light travels.

25. That nothingness you look up into is actually a lot.

26. You are probably looking at some black holes too. Here is the size of a black hole compared to Earth’s orbit.

So when you start to think that the world is all about you. Just remember…

This is your home.

Getting smaller.

Not done yet.

This is just everything we can see to this point. You are smaller than an ant in a swimming pool.
